High efficiency filter standard ISO29463 VS EN1822

There are many standards for HEPA filters. ISO 29463 is derived from EN1822, EN1822 defines common EPA, HEPA, ULPAG filters in the industry. ISO29463 maintains the filter names EPA, HEPA, ULPA, but replaces E10-E12, H13-H14, and U15-U17 with the following 13 filter ratings.

ISO29463 maintains the classification of EPA, HEPA and ULPA filters in EN1822. The evaluation in the new ISO standard is also based on the filtration efficiency under MPPS (most easily penetrating particle size). However, there is a difference in the classification of filters between the two standards. If a filter is tested according to EN1822 and its filtration efficiency under MPPS is 99.9993%, it should be judged as H14. However, when evaluated according to ISO29463, the filter should be classified as the ISO50U grade in the ULPA filter.

In addition, the air filter grouping in ISO29463 starts from ISO 15E, which is equivalent to the E11 level of EN 1822. Therefore, ISO29463 does not cover the EPA filter class E10 level. In contrast, the filter grade ISO ePM1> 95% of the test standard ISO16890 is equivalent to the filter grade E10.
